Tornado Damage in Oklahoma: First Responders Prepare for Impacts

Severe Weather Continues to Impact the State

As of 11 pm on April 27, 2024, the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) remains activated due to ongoing severe weather conditions.

Tornado Activity and Impacts

A large and extremely dangerous tornado was located south of Sulphur, moving north at 35 mph. First responders are preparing for potential impacts.

Multiple tornadoes touched down across southern Oklahoma, including in Marietta. Damage assessments are ongoing, and injuries have been reported. A flood warning is also in effect for over 80 miles south-southeast of Oklahoma City.

A wide swath of Oklahoma will experience numerous thunderstorms today, with the potential for additional tornadoes and flooding.

Residents are urged to take the following safety precautions:

  • Stay indoors and away from windows.
  • If you must travel, be aware of weather conditions and potential road closures.
